2007 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI 90BHP - 1.6 Ford Focus turbo power loss. Hello all, I had the standard Ford Focus turbo failure. I'm pretty sure it was due to a blocked oil strainer. I went for the refurbished BTN turbo with the fitting kit including the new oil feed pipe, banjo bolts, gaskets and copper seals. not too sure if the 1.4;s are the same. leaking injector seals cause contamination of the oil, contamination blocks up the oil pathways and particularly the small oil feed/return to and from the turbo. usually a car killer as the entire engine needs stripped and cleaned to surgical standards and new turbo fitted. Ok The boost pressure control solenoid is actuated by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) according to the input signal received from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. The boost pressure control solenoid is located at the rear of the engine block and has 3 vacuum hoses attached to it a 2 pin multiplug I found that the turbo boost pressure at 1600 rpm was 0.4 psi with the EGR valve connected, but when I disconnected the plug on the EGR valve, the engine was noticeably quieter and the boost pressure at 1600 rpm increased to around 2.3 psi. I did this test whilst stationary by just revving the engine and letting it settle at 1600 rpm before The DPF causes a lot of back pressure against the turbo turbine which is another factor in how long it lasts, the more it blocks, the more back pressure there is. When something like EGR, injector or glowplugs fail, this can all cause more soot than the DPF can burn, as well as a faulty DPF pressure sensor.
